Autism and SEND Training

May and June 2024 | Lighthouse School

We are delighted to offer this series of interactive training workshops in partnership with the specialist team at Lighthouse School. These workshops will provide you with the skills to enhance your SEND practice in school with autistic and SEND learners.

Workshop Content

Whilst the sessions are standalone, we would encourage delegates to attend all three to enhance their practice within school.

These workshops will be held at Lighthouse School, Hospital Lane, Cookridge, Leeds, LS16 6QB.

1. Exploring Autism | Tuesday 21st May, 3:45-5:00pm

This workshop will be facilitated by the Outreach Team at Lighthouse School; exploring neuro-affirming practices (focusing on the strengths and rights of each individual), the key areas of the difference for autism and how these can be supported in the classroom.

2. Enhancing Reading and Writing SEND | Tuesday 4th June, 3:45-5:00pm

This workshop will be facilitated by the English and Maths Coordinator at Lighthouse School; exploring why choice of text is so important, strategies to support SEND learners and how to manage reading and writing expectations across all curriculum areas.

3. Communication Support SEND | Tuesday 18th June, 3:45-5:00pm

Facilitated by the Speech and Language Therapy team at Lighthouse School this workshop will explore language acquisition and question levels in the classroom.
