Closing the Writing Gap

Alex Quigley, author of 'Closing the Writing Gap', explored the current writing challenges faced by pupils in primary and secondary schools with over 65 colleagues from both RKA schools and schools outside the Alliance. He tackled the national post-Covid writing outcomes, along with long-standing issues, before offering a range of evidence-based practical approaches to improve writing. Alex offered approaches for across the school curriculum, starting with vocabulary and sentence level strategies, grammar for writing, along with the vital processes of planning, editing and evaluating.
