Although we’re spread across venues, this is still very much one Red Kite Day, a chance to connect, collaborate and learn together.

10:10-11:00	Panel with Sanjay Bhandari, Chair of Kick it Out and Edward Davies, Centre for Social Justice A fantastic opportunity to hear from a highly qualified panel of experts, all related in some way to the political sphere, and all committed to developing a society which can support and nurture the young people in our schools. Panel members will explain their work briefly before tackling questions from the audience. Particular areas of expertise on the panel include: challenging racism; the climate crisis; the 'manosphere'.

Bringing Sociology to Life: Ideas, Methods, and Meaning

Session 1: Making Sociology Visible – Connecting Theory to Students’ Lives

Overview: This session will focus on helping teachers make sociology real, relevant, and relatable. It explores how everyday experiences, current issues, and student identities can be used to illustrate key sociological theories and concepts.

Session 2: Teaching Sociology Powerfully – Methods, Dialogue, and Critical Thinking

Overview: This session will examine how sociology is taught, focusing on pedagogy that encourages critical thinking, debate, and sociological imagination. It emphasises classroom methods that move beyond transmission of knowledge.

There are two school car parks, LS21 2BB or LS21 2BF, and delegates can use either car park. Please wear your school lanyard and report to Main Reception on arrival.
