About the facilitator:
Libby has been a primary school teacher for 20 years. She has experience in each year group of the primary age range and has always had a passion for teaching and learning maths.
She has been involved in a range of teacher research groups and maths work groups, including those run by the Maths Hubs, and has also completed the MaST (Mathematics Specialist Teacher) programme.
She strongly believes that teachers should have access to high quality CPD and opportunities to work collaboratively to continually develop their subject knowledge and refine and improve their teaching.
Libby led her school in adopting the mastery approach to mathematics. She fully supports the primary maths curriculum, with a focus on conceptual understanding and fluency, and promotes learning behaviours to encourage pupils to reason and seek to make connections.
She strongly believes that all children can learn and enjoy maths and that the primary curriculum has a vital role in developing a positive mindset to maths in children to enable them to become lifelong learners.
