Phizzi Light and Sound CPD - Free Primary Science Training

Posted 17th December 2025

Red Kite Alliance is pleased to offer primary schools the opportunity to take part in The Ogden Trust: Phizzi Light and Sound CPD, a full-day professional learning event focused on high-quality teaching of light and sound in Key Stage 2.

The training will take place on Thursday 29th January or Friday 30th January. Both days offer identical content, allowing schools to choose the date that best suits them. Schools may book as many places as required. The training is free of charge to Red Kite Alliance members and lunch is provided.

This CPD forms part of The Ogden Trust’s 2025–26 Academic Year delivery and is designed to strengthen subject knowledge, pedagogy and curriculum implementation in primary science.

Aims of the day

The training will:

  • Improve teacher knowledge, understanding and pedagogical approaches linked to the sound and light elements of the KS2 curriculum

  • Explore how to develop pupils’ ‘working scientifically’ skills through the contexts of sound and light

  • Highlight opportunities to use sound and light to support learning in maths, English and the wider curriculum

Who should attend?

The training is open to Red Kite Alliance primary schools in active Ogden Trust partnerships and is particularly suited to:

  • Science subject leaders

  • Key Stage 2 teachers teaching light and sound

What schools will receive

  • A Phizzi Light and Sound teacher handbook

  • Access to an online repository of support resources

  • One box of practical equipment per eligible school to support implementation across the school

This is an excellent opportunity to enhance science teaching and learning while gaining high-quality resources to support classroom practice.
